Sinner
Leave a trail of ashes in this 2D Platformer Roguelike. Set yourself ablaze to go through stages and complete their given objective. But don't get too complacent, you can't stay lit forever. Manage your health carefully, the sinful creatures of the Crucible will not stand idle.
Controls
Move with AD or left right arrow keys, and left stick if on a gamepad.
Jump with W, Up Arrow, or space, and the button pad if on a gamepad.
Set yourself ablaze with left click and right trigger on a gamepad.
If you are encountering any disconnect while moving your player in web gl I recommended downloading the game for a better experience as the game was not optimized for Web GL.
Afterword
This is a game I made using the Unity game engine. Due to circumstances I did not start working on my game until the 16th. Unfortunately that meant I was unable to add all of the mechanics I would have liked to add to the game and that is reflected in my game design document.
I tried to prioritize polish the moment I realized the full idea wasn't feasible to make up for that but please leave me any feedback you might have and report any bugs. I quite like the game so I'll make sure to fix it and finish it post jam. Also below are credits + tools if you happen to be curious on how the game was made.
Post Jam Afterword
I like the game a lot more now, I'll be releasing it on steam in the future. Keep in touch via this discord server if you are interested. https://discord.gg/B7VrxSSYDs

Interesting concept of having to damage yourself to remove obstacles. I'm not sure if this is a bug but I found that lighting myself would also light the enemies but didn't seem to damage them. Also when I died at times, I would "die" but the game wouldn't register it so I'd be soft locked on the level unable to move the character and the music muted.
Hello thank you for playing my game and providing feedback.
Regarding the first issue, I'm not sure I understand. Do the enemies have fire particles emitting from them but take no damage? If that's the case it is definitely a bug and one I was not previously aware of. I'd love to hear more details on it if you could expand on that.
The other bugs you mentioned are either known of and I'm working on fixing or have been resolved but as I imagine you might be aware I cannot update the game so unfortunately they'll be here to stay for the duration of the voting period. Nevertheless, thank you for reporting on them. I hope they didn't impact your experience too harshly.
Yeah, I hit them with the particles and they start emitting. Although I realized I might just be dying faster than I anticipate because sometimes my clicks don't register to deactivate the fire. It might be that there isn't enough time for the monsters to die. I'm not sure if I'm missing it, but I think a way to regenerate the light for the fire would be awesome too. Despite the bugs, it was a fun challenging game. Was constantly thinking of the trade offs of whether to break the barriers. Incentivized me to explore more to see if there was a way around without using up the precious light. The game was still a good fun despite the bugs. I can see there being a lot more to explore with this mechanic
